Our commitment to privacy

If you’re like most people, privacy is important; you’re not comfortable with the idea of mysterious people in faraway places harvesting your information for nefarious purposes.

This privacy policy is here to assure you that we only collect minimal amounts of information from you on this site, that we only collect information you voluntarily give us, and that we don’t do evil things with your information.

To make this policy easy to find, we’ve made it accessible from the footer of every page on our site, and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

Ways you might submit information

There are four ways you can submit information to us on our website:

  • By filling out a contact form
  • By leaving a comment on a blog post
  • By ordering something from our store
  • Via cookies (anonymous traffic and usage statistics are collected by Google)

Information we collect

Taking the four scenarios above, the information you may submit to us in each case includes, but is not necessarily limited to:

  • Your name, email address, and phone number (when submitting a contact form)
  • Your name, IP address, website URL, and email address (when submitting a comment on our blog)
  • Your name, email, phone, and address (when ordering something from our store)
  • Your IP address, geographic location, and general usage patterns (when browsing our site)

In the first two cases, any information you provide to us is completely voluntary.

In the third case (when ordering from our store), we do not store your credit card information or have direct access to it. This information is handled securely by a third party.

In the last case, no information is collected that could personally identify you. While some of the data collected is very specific, it can never be tracked back to an individual user to our site.

How we use this information

The only time we receive personal information from you is when you voluntarily elect to provide it.

When you elect to provide information via our contact form, we may maintain this information offline for an indefinite period of time. We never sell or otherwise redistribute your information to any outside parties (because that’s just low, man).

When you elect to post a comment to a weblog entry on our site, and that comment is not held for moderation or marked as spam and deleted, the IP address of the computer you used to submit that comment is logged and stored in our database indefinitely. This information is only used to prevent spam and abuse from other users. IP addresses of abusive users may be blacklisted. We do not share our users’ IP addresses with anyone.

Information collected by our tracking script is kept by an outside party (Google). We do not store or otherwise maintain this information in any way.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Our commitment to data security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
